Entertainment in LA Reaches a New High!

A celebration of life, music, peace, food, health, environment, and the animals – with reggae rhythm in the air, and thousands of smiling people everywhere!

Sister Nancy (from Kingston Jamaica, is a beloved iconic reggae legend - the first female dancehall DJ ever! Her classic "Bam Bam", was dubbed "a well-known reggae anthem" by the BBC, has been sampled in over 70 songs, including, most recently, in Kanye West's 2016 hit "Famous")...

Often charting on Billboard and featured on Apple Music, he has released 73 albums and is currently touring promoting the most recent release “Mek A Menshun”)…

Nadine Sutherland (mentored by Bob Marley himself, and the first artist ever signed to his Tuff Gong record label)...

Yami Bolo (from Kingston, Jamaica, who has been releasing singles since the 1980’s. He gained international acclaim in the mid-90’s for his collaboration with Japanese reggae performer Miya which led to 500,000 record album sales in Japan. The duo also won the title of Best Music Video in Japan in 1994. Bolo was a part of Damian Marley’s 2001 Grammy-winning album and has collaborated with other top stars)…

Prezident Brown (an extraordinary talent, born in the hills of Clarendon, Jamaica, he is a champion of the new roots and reality consciousness; his music entertains, informs, and inspires)...

Iakopo (a vocal Vegan who first started singing in a reggae band while in college in Samoa, crediting that culture for nurturing his vibe; since then - winner of the International Music Video Award for World Music, and chart-topping hits in the US, UK, and Japan)...

Future Sounds

Time Out says

Our favorite secret pop-up venue that sits underneath a bridge and next to some Metro tracks is hosting a one-night-only music fest this summer. Alright, so maybe it’s the only such venue, but we still think this concert at the Viaduct, located underneath Broadway on the northeast edge of Los Angeles State Historic Park, is shaping up to be a worthwhile evening.

Future Sounds, slated for August 3, includes a slew of up-and-coming acts across a bunch of genres, including pop (Jesse Jo Stark), R&B (Raquel Rodriguez), soul (Stan Taylor, syd B), disco (CAPYAC) and jazz (Floyd Fuji). In addition to the music lineup, you can expect a few food vendors and bars, plus projection mapping, performance art, activations from Wild Riot and improv poetry from Ars Poetica.

Early bird tickets for the 21+ event start at $20 and eventually tick up to $30. Or you can spring for a VIP ticket ($45), which includes two drink tickets, express entry and a tote bag.

(FREE) Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary LIVE in Northridge!

  • Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

He’s Famous For Being “The Shark With The Sharpest Teeth.”

Now, he wants to help YOU latch on to personal freedom.

Yes, “Mr. Wonderful” himself, Kevin O’Leary – business tycoon who sold his startup for $3.6 billion, and the toughest “shark” on TV’s hottest reality-business show, “Shark Tank” – is ready to spill the beans. ALL of them.

How did a kid armed only with what he calls a useless college degree rise to the top of the financial heap? It wasn’t by being a wallflower, you can be sure of that.

Kevin’s coming to your area for one reason: to help you succeed. During this educational, entertaining and candid day, you’ll discover secrets of success you can use immediately to move ahead in every area of your life.

Kevin isn’t an ivory-tower academic. His experience comes from being in the trenches, dealing with the ups and downs of business cycles, and, now, hearing hundreds of business proposals from budding entrepreneurs. He knows what works, he’s seen what doesn’t, and he will help you discern between the two.

If you’re making more money than Kevin O’Leary, then it’s possible this event isn’t worth your time. But if you’re seeking the keys to moving ahead, if you want to get an edge on the folks who don’t know these keys, then this special event could be your first step towards gaining the personal freedom so many seek.

Daytime session $150 (11am-2pm), evening session $350 (6:30-9:30pm)

Planned Parenthood is gathering some of Los Angeles’ most prestigious culinary names under one roof for a full day of pure indulgence—and there’s a Chef of the Year who’ll receive a special honor, as well.

What began in 1979 as a cooking demonstration by Julia Child has become the oldest culinary event in the City of Angels, featuring more than 150 restaurants, wineries, caterers and more. This isn’t just about food, though—the event raises funds that benefit Planned Parenthood Los Angeles, which provides life-saving cancer screenings, birth control and STD testing and treatment.

Just as the event works to raise funds every year, it also annually picks a Chef of the Year, and for 2019, the celebrated honoree is none other than Helene An of House of An. An and her family—who helped build Crustacean, Tiato, ANQI by House of An and An Catering—are all credited with helping to popularize Vietnamese cuisine in Los Angeles, as well as further Planned Parenthood’s mission. We can all agree—and eat and drink—to that.

Forces of Nature

Greetings from thirsty, muddy, smoky, shaky California! Don’t ever let anyone tell you we don’t have seasons in California. We have some doozies: fire, flood, drought, and earthquakes.
