He’s Famous For Being “The Shark With The Sharpest Teeth.”

Now, he wants to help YOU latch on to personal freedom.

Yes, “Mr. Wonderful” himself, Kevin O’Leary – business tycoon who sold his startup for $3.6 billion, and the toughest “shark” on TV’s hottest reality-business show, “Shark Tank” – is ready to spill the beans. ALL of them.

How did a kid armed only with what he calls a useless college degree rise to the top of the financial heap? It wasn’t by being a wallflower, you can be sure of that.

Kevin’s coming to your area for one reason: to help you succeed. During this educational, entertaining and candid day, you’ll discover secrets of success you can use immediately to move ahead in every area of your life.

Kevin isn’t an ivory-tower academic. His experience comes from being in the trenches, dealing with the ups and downs of business cycles, and, now, hearing hundreds of business proposals from budding entrepreneurs. He knows what works, he’s seen what doesn’t, and he will help you discern between the two.

If you’re making more money than Kevin O’Leary, then it’s possible this event isn’t worth your time. But if you’re seeking the keys to moving ahead, if you want to get an edge on the folks who don’t know these keys, then this special event could be your first step towards gaining the personal freedom so many seek.

Daytime session $150 (11am-2pm), evening session $350 (6:30-9:30pm)

Planned Parenthood is gathering some of Los Angeles’ most prestigious culinary names under one roof for a full day of pure indulgence—and there’s a Chef of the Year who’ll receive a special honor, as well.

What began in 1979 as a cooking demonstration by Julia Child has become the oldest culinary event in the City of Angels, featuring more than 150 restaurants, wineries, caterers and more. This isn’t just about food, though—the event raises funds that benefit Planned Parenthood Los Angeles, which provides life-saving cancer screenings, birth control and STD testing and treatment.

Just as the event works to raise funds every year, it also annually picks a Chef of the Year, and for 2019, the celebrated honoree is none other than Helene An of House of An. An and her family—who helped build Crustacean, Tiato, ANQI by House of An and An Catering—are all credited with helping to popularize Vietnamese cuisine in Los Angeles, as well as further Planned Parenthood’s mission. We can all agree—and eat and drink—to that.

Biography

Daughter of the legendary Johnny Cash, Rosanne Cash (born May 24th, 1955) has forged a remarkable career in her own right, becoming one of the most notable singer-songwriters of her day.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, US, to father Johnny Cash and his first wife, Vivian Liberto, Cash joined her father’s road show after graduating high school early-1970s, moving from laundry duty to becoming a backup singer and occasional soloist. She made her recording debut in 1974 on Johnny Cash’s “The Junkie and the Juicehead Minus Me,” featuring on the song, “Broken Freedom Song.” However, it was another four years before Rosanne decided to seriously pursue a career in music.

In 1978, Cash signed with Columbia Records, releasing her American debut, “Right or Wrong” in 1979, featuring three Top 25 hits. Her breakthrough came in 1981, “Seven Year Ache,” which brought Cash three number one singles in the country charts, with the title track also crossing over into the Top 30 of the mainstream Billboard pop charts. Cash took a stylistic turn in 1985, moving towards a country-pop sound with “Rhythm & Romance,” which gained praise from country and pop fans alike. Her next critical and commercial success came with 1987’s “King Record Shop,” featuring four number one singles, with Cash being named ‘Top Singles Artist’ by Billboard in 1988.

By the end of the decade, Cash released the retrospective album, “Hits 1979-1989,” summarising her ten years of success as a solo artist. The following decade, amidst personal upheaval following her divorce, Cash continued to release albums, taking a more introspective style of song writing. Cash moved away from the country pop of the past to a more mature, folk sound, displaying her musical diversity in albums such as 1993’s “The Wheel.”

It was another ten years before Cash would release her next full-length studio album, 2003’s “Rules of Travel.” Cash continued to record music until 2007, when she was diagnosed with Chiari malformation, with Cash taking a break from music in order to undergo treatment and recovery from her condition. She had overcome her illness by late-2008, returning to the studio in 2009 with “The List,” a collection of recordings of songs that her father had considered to be the 100 most essential American songs. Cash then set up the ‘Johnny Cash Music Festival’ in 2011, as a tribute to her father. She then returned to the studio, developing new original material, which culminated in 2014’s “The River & The Thread.”

Audubon Bird Walks in the San Fernando Valley

Every first Sunday of the month, San Fernando Valley Audubon conducts a bird-walk at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Area, in Woodley Park. It’s a gentle, slow, level walk during which Kris Ohlenkamp, a biologist and avian expert, helps experts and beginners alike locate and recognize the wildlife that calls the Wildlife Area home. The Area and its beautiful lake are also a “fly-in AirBnB” for colorful migrating birds.

If you need to borrow a pair of binoculars, email us at info@sfvaudubon.org and we'll arrange something. There is always at least one spotting scope and birders are very good about sharing.

Never been bird-watching before? Not to worry, Audubon is all about helping you get started. More detailed directions and information (in English and some Spanish) about this and  many other nature walks Audubon conducts in the San Fernando Valley can be found at www.sfvaudubon.org.

My Creative Outlet, 21754 Devonshire St, Chatsworth, CA 91311, USA

About The Event

Basics Zentangle Class

The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns.

Tami says, “Best of all, unlike many art forms, there is no preplanning, and there are no mistakes in Zentangle providing artistic satisfaction and an increased sense of personal well being. Zentangle is enjoyed by a wide range of skill levels and ages. Absolutely no art experience is required to succeed at Zentangle!”

So do you want to try something fun and creative? The best way to get started is with a Zentangle Basics Class. You’ll walk away with a completed tile, an understanding of the Zentangle Method, the knowledge of how to create several tangles, shading techniques, all needed basic supplies and a resource list that will have you up and tangling and wanting to know more.

Anyone can do this! No drawing experience or skills are needed. Really! If you can draw a line (and it doesn’t have to be a straight line), a curve, an orb and a dot with a pen, then you can create Zentangle abstract drawings! In this class, you will learn about:

  • Zentangle and its Characteristics

  • How Zentangle Got its Start

  • Creating in a Zentangle Way

  • Brief Zentangle Theory

  • An Overview of How Zentangle Can Be Used

  • Your Zentangle Mini-Kit

  • Tangles

  • Creating your first Zentangle Tile
